Hit Pictures Press is an online multimedia magazine project meant to help give a voice to independent journalism projects. It is edited by René Carson, a multimedia designer, photo-journalist and filmmaker. Using our experience in design and promotion, we hope to assist investigative storytellers complete and showcase their work for a global audience. We are an independent newsroom that supports journalism that we feel is in the public interest, while encouraging more diverse opinions in other news organizations.
Along with long-form articles and photo essays, Hit Pictures Press also contains editorials, essays, poetry and other writing. We also publish printed media. Past projects have included photo calendars, card sets and apparel.
Journalists today lack resources and are constantly hamstrung by time and budget constraints. This, along with the prevalence of news organizations being controlled by major corporations, causes important voices not to be heard. Our hope is that Hit Pictures Press grows to be a resource for journalists, photographers and anyone with a desire to write something that could be a source of interest and inspiration to others.
