100th Anniversary National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade

Went to Washington, DC with my family for the 100th Anniversary of the National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade and the 52th Annual Sakura Matsuri Japanese Street Festival. The National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade included: marching bands from schools across the U.S. (my favorite was Howard University); celebs such as singer Debbie Gibson, singer and performer Marie Osmond, former Olympic figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi, some American Idol finalists, and others; acrobats; and local news anchors. The Sakura Matsuri Street Festival – the largest in the U.S. – included martial arts demonstrations, vendors and singing performances, all celebrating Japanese culture and influences.

I grouped the images from my trip to Washington, DC as follows:

I thought this quote was appropriate:

“In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count… it’s the life in your years.”
– President Abraham Lincoln
