I attended the opening night screening at the 15th Annual Urbanworld Film Festival last night in New York City. On the ticket was the World Premiere of the brilliant Nelson George and Diane Paragas documentary Brooklyn Boheme. It was a very inspiring night for sure, and Nelson was even nice enough briefly chat with me about my film project, Blvd. Warriors (I still prefer the first name I came up with, Homemade Kung Fu)!
I posted trailers for select films and talk more about this year’s Urbanworld Film Fest at FilmFetish.com.
Included in the photos are Mario Van Peebles, Nelson George, Diane Paragas, Natasha Ononogbo, Spike Lee, Chris Rock, Giancarlo Esposito and many more.
“We’re very excited to be premiering this film at Urbanworld,” said George. “Hopefully, the exposure we’re receiving at this festival will create opportunities for us to bring ‘Brooklyn Boheme’ to the rest of the world.”
Additional celebs/VIPs in attendance included Maxwell, John Boyega (who’s filming a movie with Spike), BET’s Stephen Hill, Basketball Wives’ Meeka Claxton, radio personality Egypt Sherrod, culture critic Michaela Angela Davis, stylist/entrepreneur Marlo Hampton, actor Hassan Johnson, and director Qasim Basir.
