Official ribbon-cutting ceremony for Chicago’s new Sir Miles Davis Academy

Official ribbon cutting of the new SIR MILES DAVIS ACADEMY. This day-long event kicks off at 11 a.m. with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony; speeches about the cultural significance of this new school and the great importance of education within the Chicago public school system; a presentation to the Miles Davis Family, and an inaugural tour of the new school building. Live music performances and refreshments will be served for parents and the community.

Attendees will include producer/musician Erin Davis, son of Miles Davis, Nef Drum Productions CEO and Chicago native, Vince Wilburn, Jr., nephew of Miles Davis, along with Cheryl Davis, daughter of the jazz icon.

The location will be the Sir Miles Davis Academy, at 6740 South Paulina, Chicago, on Tuesday, August 26, 2008, at 11AM.
